We’re looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Support Worker to join our Mental Health service in Hackney. No personal care or experience is required, just the right values.

Clarence Road is registered care home for adults with enduring mental health histories. The care home is in a purpose-built building located in Hackney. The care home provides 24hr high support to 15 customers both female and male. The customers have individual bedrooms and the use of shared communal facilities and gardens. The service is commissioned by East London Foundation Trust with the care contribution from London Borough of Hackney.
As a Support Worker, you will be working as part of team and will play an integral role in ensuring that our customers are safe and living their best lives possible. No two days are alike and a typical day in the home is largely driven by the customers that you are supporting, helping to ensure that they can live with as much independence and choice as possible. You will play a key role and be part of a team that aims to deliver excellence in all we do.
The role offers you the opportunity to gain understanding in Mental Health with opportunities to further develop your skills knowledge.
You will be expected to work at least 1 sleep in a week and on a rota basis with typical shifts being 8-4pm and 2-10 pm.
This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.
What you’ll do:
  • Supporting customer to stay mentally and physically well, support with activities and required during the day including supporting customers in the community with their activities.
  • Key working for a number of customers and taking a lead role in ensuring customers lives are personalised, support plans and risk management plans are updated.
  • Take a proactive approach to health and safety of self, customers and your colleagues.
  • Responding to customers in a timely manner and positive attitude whilst delivering support that is in line with their care plan support needs.
  • Take part in planning shift plans and coordinating shifts at the start of the day ensuring all planned and diarised activities and appointments are maintained.
  • Communicating effectively during handover to your day colleagues with a thorough handover.
  • Supporting customers to get ready in the mornings, including support with personal care and hygiene where required.
  • Making sure that customers are safe and living their best lives possible!

What you’ll bring:
Essential:
  • Up to NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sector
Desirable:
  • Experience working in mental health
